General Motors'
introduction of the front wheel drive vehicle X-Body models
OK, so I
was interested in the innovation of the X body cars and specifically the 1980
Buick Skylark from the advertisements. I
ordered the sportiest options I could. I
should have known that when the brand-new delivered car battery ran down on the
first day, and the fix was that the dealer ran a wire from the driver's side to
the passenger side and the fuse box, I was the owner of a car with the wrong
wiring harness. It was silver with a
white interior and with bucket seats. It
worked well for the year I owned it, but it was a typical General Motors beta
test first-year car. Not being that
smart at the time, I traded it in on an 1981 Chevrolet
X-11, which was better performing and provided transportation for some
time. First the pictures of the 80
Skylark and the 81 X-11.
